Laura Weymouth is a lifelong writer who lives at the edge of the woods in western New York, on a small farm populated with chickens, goats, children, cats, and one very spoiled border collie. She writes critically acclaimed fantasy novels for teens and adults, including The Light Between Worlds, Steel & Spellfire, and the Daughters of Light duology.

Laura Weymouth is a Canadian living in America, and the sixth consecutive generation of her family to immigrate from one country to another. Born and raised in the Niagara region of Ontario, she now lives at the edge of the woods in western New York with her husband, three feral daughters, an indeterminate number of chickens, a trio of cats, a pair of inquisitive dairy goats, and one very spoiled border collie.
Laura has published five fantasy novels for teen readers, The Light Between Worlds (a Junior Library Guild selection and one of the Times of London’s Best Books of 2018) A Treason of Thorns, A Rush of Wings, A Consuming Fire (a Junior Library Guild selection and Publisher’s Weekly starred review) and The Voice Upstairs. Her sixth book for teen readers, Steel & Spellfire will be published in Summer 2025 by McElderry Books. Her adult fantasy debut, The Castle & the Cloister, is forthcoming from Saga Press and Del Rey UK in Spring 2026, and will be followed by a sequel, The Starlight & the Flame, in 2027. While Laura has many animal pets, her pet themes include identity and belonging, women’s anger, religion and power, and the transformative nature of parenthood.
